VGA monitors and HDCP-- solution to watching videos on Netflix and Amazon Prime

VGA monitors are not HDCP compliant.

HDCP is High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection, a copy protection scheme built into modern LCD/LED/IPS Monitors as a means to prevent piracy of digital HD movies and videos.

So if you have an older monitor with VGA, you are not out of luck.

Some streaming websites still support an older DRM video copy protection like Microsoft's Silverlight, so just download Silverlight and you are good.

But for modern HTML 5 HD Videos on Netflix and Amazon Prime, it uses HDCP for HTML5 video playback, so the solution is to use the Chrome browser and download
Widevine Content Decryption Module which Enables Widevine licenses for playback of HTML audio/video content.

just launch up Google Chrome Browser and type into the web address bar:
chrome://plugins/

and click update.

And then you can watch HTML 5 HDCP protected videos!

If you don't have Google Chrome browser, get it at:

https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/

It is available for Windows, Mac OS X (Intel) and Linux (x86)
