If you are having firewire port problems -- such as it stop working, you can try this to reset your firewire ports:
Solution1:
First press simultaneously both the programmer's reset key and the power button and hold.
Eventually your PPC Mac's button will flicker
Then let go, it will do a start up chime.
Your firewire ports are now reset.
Solution 2:
Another thing you can do is to unplug your PPC Mac and remove the PRAM battery and let it sit overnight.
Solution 3:
Or you can try this: unplug everything and let your Mac sit for 10 minutes or so and then plug everything back and and start up your Mac.
