The Witcher 1: Enhanced Edition Steam Version for Mac Running Mac OSX 10.9 Mavericks is

 broken and won't launch when you try to play it and I have the solution on how you can play The 

Witcher 1: Enhanced Edition by using the free gog.com version instead

.

Just go to GoG.com and enter your Witcher CD Key provided by Steam and GoG.com will provide with a 

DRM free version of The Witcher Enhhanced Edition for free as a backup and download and install that 

and then you need to modify it to get it to run on Mac OSX 10.9 Mavericks:

Instructions:

1. download the game using the CD key on: www.gog.com/witcher/backup

2. go to the directory where you installed the gog.com version of The Witcher 1: Enhanced Edition

and  Right-click The Witcher.app, and select "Show package contents". Go into the Contents directory 

and open the Info.plist file.

Find this line:

<key>Program Flags</key>

Underneath it, you will find this line:

<string></string>

Change the second line to:

<string>-dontForceMinReqs</string>

Save the file and try launching the game now.

The screen will be black but give it a minute or two to load up because it should work now.
